The Magic Doll

I just realised that none of my blog posts are dedicated to my little one (yes yes, I can feel her eyes rolling). So, ladies and gentlemen, please allow me to introduce Samara Maya Ullas, the second child of Ullas Puttaswamy and Rashmi Ullas and the sister of Anahita Sara Ullas.

Now, let’s move on to some informal introduction. Samara is also ಪೂಛನಿ to ತಾತ (all translations mentioned below), ಕಿಟ್ಟನಿ to ಅಜ್ಜಿ, ಬಳ್ಳು ಸಮಾರಾ to granny and ಬೊಕ್ಡಿ junior to grandpa. Wait, there are more titles this Diva holds - ಗುಂಡು to Chaithra ಅತ್ತೆ, cutie baby to Mukta, Kukki to Pravy uncle and baby Samara to aunty Jyo, Kaira and Kevin.

Now that you've had the privilege of knowing her by the different titles, you are also the lucky ones to get an insight into her Highness' personality. Samara is 65 cms tall and weighs 7.5 kilos (a lot heavier than the numbers feel, especially when you carry her around). She has dark brown, neatly mowed hair that comes with natural blond streaks (thanks to such nature's gifts, Ullas' pockets may suffer smaller burns from the potential salon bills). She has broad lips and absolutely no teeth inside. At birth her eyes were mystic grey; now they’re light brown and mischievous.

Samara mostly wears onesies, dresses, diapers and the most dazzling smile. She's the new kid on the runway, so has started wearing shoes instead of booties. She refuses to be buttoned up and loves to pull out any gear that adorns her little head.

Samara loves to play with clips, paper and anything but real toys. Anahita is her favourite playmate and her ducky is her agony aunt. Although Samara has a peaceful aura, it can be easily disturbed if you mess with two things - her food and her sleep. Give her these two and she’s your angel; deny them, and you'll be truly sorry!

I often hear Ullas saying - "It's so nice to have a baby at home". I can never deny how wonderful it feels to go back to the feeling of someone this tiny stealing our hearts away. I can’t believe Samara has already turned 10 months old. In these few months, we've moved houses, Ana has graduated into Upper Kindergarten and the world has seen four seasons.

If there’s one thing that remains the same, it's the gratitude Ullas, Anahita and I feel to have our magic doll with us, hold her little hands, bite into her chubby cheek and listen to her happy giggles. Now that we've come this far, I can't imagine what life would be without Samara Maya Ullas.

Magic Doll, let your spell continue to bind us with love, life and laughter. Mummy, Daddy and Ana will always love you from earth to the sky
.
