Women have the power to make a change
Gone are the days when women were considered mere reproductive machines who were born to marry, make kids and take care of the men. Today's woman has broken he shackles of domestic bondage and has created a new path for herself. A woman is truly God's best creation - she is beautiful yet humble, she is mild yet strong, she is tough yet loving. She also has one quality that can beat any man in the world and that is the finesse to multitask. It is these qualities that make her a beloved mother, wonderful wife and a great employee.
About a decade ago, majority of women belonged to the working class. Many women struggled hard to strike a balance between their domestic and personal life. It was unfortunate that a lot of talented and career oriented women had to give up their dreams for their family. It was heart wrenching to see that, in some families, the woman's sacrifice was seldom appreciated. The world slowly warmed up to these career oriented women and made work life more flexible for them. Flexible work timings gave wings to a woman's dreams and she now rules the world with the ability that makes even God marvel at His creation.
The best example I can quote is of my sister, she was working in her field of interest, for a renowned firm in India. She was a talented girl and was gaining the trust of her colleagues as well as the appreciation of her employers. Everything was going wonderfully well for her, but destiny had other plans. She was to marry and move to the United States along with her husband.
Once in the US, the prospect of setting up a new home kept her busy for about two months. She had so much to do, to make the foreign land her own habitat; she learnt to drive a car, went exploring her neighbourhood, made new friends and did everything constructive, but at the cost of burning a big hole in her husband's pocket.
Finally she was settled, she loved her home and the country she lived in. After a few days of staying at home with nothing much to do, she slowly got bored, a few weeks later she got frustrated and a few months later she got depressed. Millions of advices and encouragements thrown at her did little to boost her spirits.
On one routine morning, when she was browsing through the newspaper, she read about a seminar that would be organised for women who want to make a difference to their life. She was intrigued by the topic and decided to go for the talk. Today she looks back at her life and remembers the speaker with gratitude because his inspiring words gave her new direction and she is now a contempt woman. The speaker spoke about how much potential women have by quoting several instances of women who made it large, despite the hurdles in their life.
My sister was very impressed with the seminar and was inspired to think of an alternative career for herself. She was a good writer and often wrote diaries and poems to spend her time. She decided to make writing her career and started looking for opportunities as a freelance writer.
It has been 4 years since her first freelance project, she is a successful writer now. She has a good list of clientele and has worked on some of the most interesting topics. Some of her works have been published in magazines and educational materials. A mother of two, she continues to write and has plans of starting her own writing company one day. I look with awe at my sister's life and feel proud that I have such an inspiring personality in my house.
Every woman has great potential, but she only needs to be shown the right direction. Every woman is special and can take charge of her life. It is time to strap the saddle and climb the horse and cruise to glory. Woman, choose your path and ride with confidence, nothing can ever stop you because you are God's best creation.
